The newly developed product is a system for the automatic objective determination of thermal skin injuries (burnt skin).
The underlying principle is multi-spectral remission measurement. It provides the specific information needed to ensure the determination of the depth of burns. The corresponding imaging technique using optical measurement methods is non-invasive and without additional pain for the patients.
The Delphi Optics analysing system consists of the multi-spectral camera CS-CAM.burn and the software BurnAlyzer. This is the first system that enables the user to determine the severity of skin burns at an early stage.
The system should be used immediately, at the same time as primary care measures and initial wound cleaning (first debridement), with a follow up after 24 hours to ensure reliable determination of the burn degree. An objective assessment of the burn depth is possible after 24 hours. The procedure can be integrated virtually effortless into the clinical workflow, for example parallel to conventional documentation.
This system enables the user to arrive at the correct diagnosis and make decisions about optimal treatment and appropriate patient transfer to a special burns unit. The improved treatment probably results in reduced average length of stay and a reduction in post-operative treatment and increases economic efficiency.
